Kantai Collection Summer 2015 Event【Counterattack! The Second Operation SN】picture gallery

It has been weeks since the summer event ended, yet we could still feel the pain and taste the salty tears from that event. The phantom pain still remains. It was a fun event, yet it was rather hard. Much resources and sanity vanishes into thin air, yet fellow hardened teitoku still manages to live on and tell the tale, from maps that eat your bauxite like black hole to the nigh unpenetrable aegis shield of  E-7 boss that laugh each time you fail to even scratch her.

It was a memorable event indeed. Here's a memoir for those who survived the event. Here's to you.

Suisei no Gargantia : You might wanna watch this in HD or something

Hey guys... Wolvenciel here... Uh I kinda did say I was gonna come up with reviews each week but I guess that's kind of a fairy tale for me huh. I know, I know. I'm inconsistent and I always just did reviews of old animes that nobody would want to watch anyways. But hey. At least I'm doing something (Looks at the LN review guy). Here goes Suisei no Gargantia.

Looks like a creepy giant cuttlefish/flower hybrid monster to me though

The story starts off big, showing the endless battle between two different lifeforms; the humans (who have pretty big beam cannons and mechs) and the Hideauze (who for some reason looks really really similar to your average cuttlefish or squids or whatever it is that they call it back at your own countries). It shows that the battle was tipping to the Hideauze's favor and the human soldiers were forced to retreat. Ledo, the main character of this anime was left behind and got swept into a different flow of the man-made wormhole that was used by the humans to retreat (I dunno wormhole or whatever. It was big and swirling. I'm not gonna go into details with this).

Lazors

So then Ledo had crash landed into the ocean and woke up around six months after just to find out that Chamber (his bad ass machine caliber) and himself on some kind of place foreign to him. And like any sci-fi personnel, he panicked (well not really panic but I don't know) and kinda grabbed a hostage to make sure that the inhabitants would think twice about whether to shoot him or not. The thing about Ledo that's appealing to me is that his viewpoints are all WAY different than what we deem normal even if he's the same as all the other humans in Gargantia (yeah well no use keeping this anyways. Gargantia is the name of the place Ledo got taken into after he crash-landed). Even throughout the anime he still learns bit by bit on the language and tries his best to speak (which is kind of awkward and funny) like the Gargantians do. As the anime progresses he also improves on his views of his own surroundings.

He's not a perv or anything. He just wants the girl to keep talking. Or is he?
Then there's his trustworthy mecha partner, Chamber. I really shouldn't bring my mecha fanboy attitude inside this review but yeah I'm gonna spoil it anyways. This mech talks, scans friend or foe signatures automatically, has like adjustable beams to suit its targets, clean rechargeable energy, predicts stuff, and a whole lot of other features that I think not many other mechs have. It also, at some point has a bit of human-like thinking at the later parts of the anime. Ledo and Chamber both moves the anime forward and gives you that contrast in the thinking of humans and a machine regarding principles, way of living, and a lot of other deep stuff.

Of course, you have the eye candy and the girl who can cheer up/freak out/confuse the soldier that is Ledo, Amy. If you're wondering, yes Amy was the one who got her ass touched by Ledo's gun earlier in the anime. She is one of the reasons Ledo is not that much of a soldier anymore later in the anime and well... Let's just say some of the fan service is on her and its quite the spectacle. I think the "sugoi sugoi sugoi" recording that was on loop and got viral on the net a few years back was from this girl's voice. You'll know what I mean by this when you watch the anime

I do have to give you some warning though. If for some reason you can't take Urobutcher's style of mind break anime story line, please by all means skip it. But then you have to tell yourself that you have just missed a very wonderful anime physically and mentally (But yeah there's still that mind break that you need to cope with). It has colorful graphics and it focuses a lot on the way we look at things. Overall a nice getaway. This is Wolvenciel, see ya next week.

Animangaki 2015

AniManGaki, an abbreviation from 'Anime', 'Manga' and 'Gaki' (a Japanese slang of 'brat') was established in 2009 by Yvonne Sing Wee Wen, founder of Sunway University Anime Club. AniManGaki was form by fans, for fans; with the purpose of bringing anime, manga and game enthusiasts together and celebrate the diverse pop-cultures of Japan. Coined by the public as the “Trendsetter", AniManGaki strives to bring new and exciting content each year to more than 11,500 attendees.

By 2012, AniManGaki had separated itself from a university club event, and formed an event organising entity, solely managed by the AniManGaki Organising Committee and its members. In addition, the event's venue, previously held in the Sunway University Halls from 2009 till 2011, had shifted to Sunway Pyramid Convention Centre in 2012, to accommodate the rising number of attendees and event content ever since.

Kei-chan, is AniManGaki's one and only official mascot, modelled after Sunway's iconic sphinx head at the main shopping mall. Since it was conceived during the founding days of AniManGaki, it has been incorporated into many of our key designs and activities. Its true nature, species and gender still remains a mystery to our attendees till today.

Held on the 29th and 30th of August 2015, Animangaki 2015 is now in its 7th year with 'Sports' theme as it main focus, synonymous with today Japanese animation and pop culture. Sorry for the late post, but to compensate we will provide you tons of pictures to accompany this short review.

The event itself got a little bigger now, adding more room for more contents to its attendee. It does feel a little crowded sometime, but it's not really that bad.

The stage, where the main event highlight were held

I managed to enter an art competition, and even if I didn't win, I managed to get my art displayed anyway. Feels rather proud of it.

The fastest and strongest

Guest illustrators booth beside the stage itself, featuring live drawing by the artists.

Variety of booths were set up in the hall, selling doujins, merchandise and many more.

View from the doujin booth

My only regret is to not buy this miaa dakimakura since I was short on money. dang.
Where the inside of the hall is where the stage event and most of the booth were, outside the was the place where cosplayers gathers, as well as some other highlight such as Touhou Matsuri and amazing displays.

Ticketing counter, now located upstairs to avoid crowding

The spot where most famous photographers get a chance to take pictures of the cosplayers.

The main event outside the hall is the Touhou Matsuri. It was unofficially kicked off as Hisoutensoku Malaysia in 2011 as a gathering of fans looking to sell Touhou Project doujin products as well as participate in what would soon grow to become Southeast Asia's largest annual Touhou Event. What was an event focused on the tournament soon grew to encompass other aspects of the Touhou fandom. In July 2014, the Animangaki organisers officially adopted the Malaysian Touhou Brigade name to reflect the varying interests of members in the group, ranging from cosplay and dance to music and art and everything in between.
Today, Touhou Matsuri continues to flourish together Animangaki, attracting visitors both local and international looking to enjoy two days packed full of Touhou fun! Featured activities include Hisoutensoku tournament and Danmaku tournament for the hardcore players.

As well as the Touhou Matsuri, we alsu have a normal kind of Omatsuri, Japanese themed stalls to replicate the festivals ground in Japan for attendee to join in. The games provided include mini archery, balloon pop, ring toss, water yoyo and many more.

Upstairs, we have a room dedicated for figurines/collectibles display by the Hobby and Collectibles Community. They decided to go even bigger, where groups of different hobby communities merge together and display their awe inspiring collection to all. It's like a mini figures museum in itself.

Display from renowned nanblock artist Christopher Tan.

Expensive Ironman stuff:

Not really included inside the room itself, but oh well. Gundam display inside the hall by the Gundam Toyshop booth.

Going back inside the hall, there were two invited guests that was featurefor this event; Zwei a rock band from Japan and Yaki a popular cosplayer.

押切 YAKI (YaQie Yaki) started cosplaying since 2001. She is currently a member of China-based popular cosplay association Silence Snary (杭州 304). She is best known for emerging as the (team) champion of the World Cosplay Summit (WCS) China qualification round in 2005. Having over 10 years of cosplay experience under her belt, she was named by the Ministry of Culture of the People's Republic of China to participate in the Russia-China Cultural Festival 2010 held in Russia as one of the guest performers representing China.

YAKI's mesmerizing cosplays gained tremendous attention and have frequently been equated as distinctively lifelike. She excels in historic/oriental themed cosplays which often requires heavy attention to presentation of details. Her notable cosplays include Ina from the video game "Samurai Warriors 2", Li Changge from the novel series "A Long Song", Chen Yue and Gu Zhilan from the MMORPG "Sword Heroes' Fate 3", and many more.

Till date, YAKI has been invited to participate at various conventions in China and Taiwan, actively contributing to the ACG scene by way of taking up roles such as guest performer and cosplay competition panel judge. Eager in sharing her love and passion in cosplay, she started to participate in stage plays since 2010 with the aim of bringing fresh ideas to the table. Few of her stage play appearances include "Legends of the Monkey King – Messing in the Heavenly Palace" and "Hot Blood General Yang".

Zwei is a rock band from Japan with Ayumu as the vocalist and Megu as the bassist. Formed in 2003, Zwei made their official debut in 2004 with their first song "Movie Star" (Ending song for Fuji TV's variety programme "Guru Guru Ninety Nine"). The band name,
"Zwei" was taken from the German language meaning "Two". The "Two" represents the two sides of their music; "Digital & Analog", "U.K Rock & J-POP" and not to mention the style of the band, "Voice & Visual", Ayumu's powerful, clear voice & Megu's striking appearance.
The band swiftly gained popularity when performing songs for various visual novels. Under the 5bp. label, Ayumu provided the vocals for "Occultics no Majo", theme song for visual novel "Umineko no Naku Koro ni Chiru”. Since then, the band began performing for various PC games and visual novels music such as Koyubi no Paradox, opening song for visual novel game "Memories Off: Yubikiri no Kioku", Kakuchou Place, opening song for visual novel game "ROBOTICS;NOTES" and many more.
Zwei made their first appearance at Animelo Summer Live in 2012. In the same year, they released their single "Junjou Spectra", the opening theme song for "ROBOTICS;NOTES" animation. 10 years since their debut, Zwei has been invited to perform at various conventions including Germany and America, and recently, Malasyia.

On stage, there were lots of activities, from performance, competition, games and many more. Two of our lovable ACG MC, Dante and Shaun made this event really epic.

Performance by local band, Harmonia. For the girls of Harmonia ACG, AniManGaki will always be where it all started for them.Harmonia ACG is gradually making a name for themselves with every event and performance, even among international circles, and they look forward to sharing more music with fans and friends from all over the world.

Animangaki Cosplay Competition or 'Cosplay Olympics', where participants show off their sport-themed perfromances with amazing looking costumes.

More performance by the Local Love Live group.

And the price giving ceremonies, given to winners of the competition held during the course of the event.

The event end with a DJ party. A rather wild one.

An now, for some cosplay pictures!

For this event, I've cosplayed as two of my most favourite character, Rance fro the Rance Series in day 1 and Viktor from League of Legends in day 2.

Loots!
It's a great event. A memorable one for sure. I've cosplayed for two whole day that I actually ashamed for not taking more pictures, but it's totally worth it. All in all, I really enjoyed and hoping that I might somehow make it for the next year. See ya!
