Flyable Heart

One day, Shou, who is always hungry, receives a letter. It contains a student ID issued by a famous school and the ID says “All school restaurants are free of charge.” He immediately decides to transfer to this school. The school, however, is divided into two groups…. Also, what welcome him are a strange fortuneteller, a huge explosion of fire works, and his room at school dormitory for girls…. What will happen to Shou? What will happen to love romance between Shou and six female students? His new school life now starts…. 

The story of Flyable Heart revolves around the protagonist Syo Katsuragi , a high school student who has recently transferred into the Ōtoriryōran Academy , a notorious private high school known for its high academic standards. There are two associations representing the student body in the school, the Ryōran association , and the student council. Members of the Ryōran association are appointed and manages the campus' operations, as opposed to the student council whose members are elected and manages affairs for the student body. Upon being enrolled into the school, Syo is welcomed by fellow students and is greeted by fireworks. He is then forced to reside in the all girls Ryōran association dormitory as the male dormitory is completely occupied. He spends most of his time with members from the two student associations and other students. One of his fellow students is Yui Inaba , the main heroine of Flyable Heart. Like Syo, Yui has recently transferred into the school, and is not yet familiar with the many unusual aspects of the school. She has a bright, but also timid personality, and has an affection towards doughnuts, claiming it is the only thing of a large size that can be eaten anywhere.

He later also meets Amane Sumeragi . Amane is in the same class as Syo, and is the president of the Ryōran association. She has an aggressive personality and a strong sense of responsibility, in contrast to her carefree elder brother and student council president, Souryu Sumeragi . Syo also meets Sakurako Minase , another Ryōran association member. Sakurako is soft-spoken and has a gentle personality, but is also a natural airhead. Mayuri Shirasagi is the vice-president of the student council. She has a kind and elegant personality, and excels in academics and sports. Mayuri and Sakurako often spends time together as friends. The two also have a high reputation among students for their respective stature and personality. Suzuno Yukishiro  is a girl from Syo's class. Like Sakurako, she is soft-spoken and well-mannered. She has a weak body, and claims she is a spirit not visible to human eyes. The sixth and final heroine in Flyable Heart is Kururi Kujo . Kururi is a first year student at Syo's school. She has a cold and quiet personality, and serves as the matron to the Ryōran association's dormitory. She is skilled at mechanics, and is the creator of Syo's robot roommate, Maxx .

A good solid eroge with an excellent scenario, romantic and heartwarming stories, and characters you will remember and empathize with. This game is not only well worth the time, but something everyone who enjoys a good story will want to play.

Osananajimi wa Daitouryou ~ My Girlfriend is the President

It started out as an ordinary morning, woken up by my childhood friend. Had a good breakfast…. An ordinary, everyday eroge scene. Or… so it seemed. Things would never be the same from that day, as peaceful everyday life was blown to bits. An accident on a spaceship heading to earth, causes it to crash on the Prime Minister of Nippon’s office. The leaders end up in a state too horrible to see. To avoid chaos, the loli alien chose a girl who happened to be there, and to make ends meet, brainwashed all of mankind. Nippon adopts a presidential system overnight, and incredibly, a girl, my childhood friend, is the president. The world will answer to her every whim. 

You begin the title as Junichiro Hondo, woken up by your beautiful childhood friend Yukino Ohama sprouting your normal morning wood and being the overall pervert you are made out to be. Despite this erotic trait about you, you are friendly, social and a hit with the ladies. However things start to get a bit weird after you find yourself in the middle of the White… Snow House, with your girlfriend suddenly being made the President, you the vice president and a number of your other friends taking different roles in the presidential cabinet. As the only one who notices the change you also become acquainted with the loli alien Qoo who explains that after having crashed on earth (and seemingly killing the President of “The United States of Nippon”), they had to brainwash the population in order to cover up the event and making Yukino the president. From there, the story unfolds about the new President and vice-President…. and the President of Russia, a humanoid Starship and the chief of staff work together to keep things running while all vying for Junichiro’s attention. 

To to summarize, the comedy and political parodies were the winning components to the storyline along with all the plots that attempt to shake up the storyline. While I would have liked more character development at the start over introducing all the characters in the first chapter and then mixing their development together but in the end I felt they were developed at least adequately – along with having some more zany character ideas for secondary characters. 

Overall, while I would have loved to have seen the plot with all eroge references removed and more of a focus on the political comedy nature that it delivered, this is an enjoyable eroge visual novel that while not taking itself too seriously, didn’t take itself too lightly either. Alcot did a great job at developing this title.

Little Busters!

Little Busters!  is a Japanese visual novel developed by Key. It was released on July 27, 2007 playable on Windows PCs and is rated for all ages. Little Busters! is Key's sixth game, along with other titles such as Kanon, Air, and Clannad. An adult version of the game titled Little Busters! Ecstasy was released on July 25, 2008 for Windows. Ecstasy was later ported to the PlayStation 2, PlayStation Portable and PlayStation Vita. The story follows the life of Riki Naoe, a high school student who has been a member of a group of friends named the Little Busters since childhood. Riki brings multiple girls at his school into the Little Busters to have enough people to play a baseball game.

The gameplay in Little Busters! follows a branching plot line which offers pre-determined scenarios with courses of interaction, and focuses on the appeal of the six female main characters by the player character, which increases to nine in Ecstasy. There are additional minigames added into the gameplay, such as battle sequences that resemble fighting games or baseball batting practice, which serve to give the characters experience, obtain accessories to use during battle, and improve theirstatistics. Both Little Busters! and Ecstasy ranked as the best-selling PC game sold in Japan for the time of their release, and Ecstasy would go on to sell over 100,000 units. Key went on to produce an adult spin-off of Ecstasy called Kud Wafter in June 2010, which expanded on the scenario of Kudryavka Noumi, one of the heroines from Little Busters! and Ecstasy.

The main part of the story takes place at a high school in Japan. There is a "secret of this world" that Kyousuke speaks of. The characters live in either the male or female dormitories on the school grounds which are adjacent to each other. Facing the dorms is the main school building where classes take place which also houses the cafeteria on the ground floor. The school is four floors tall and offers a roof that anyone can go up onto if they wish. Beyond the main school building is the large schoolyard, with the pool area adjacent to the yard. On the other side of the field, is the baseball field, with the gymnasium and tennis court beyond it which is closer to the main school building.

Childhood and adolescence are two important themes in Little Busters!. The opening video of the visual novel starts with two lines written in English: "What 'Adolescence' do you have?" and "Do you remember 'Childhood'?". Riki Naoe, the male protagonist, has four childhood friends whom he grew up together with through adolescence and still hangs out with when the story begins. Thus, friendship is another theme presented in the form of Riki's relationships with his friends in high school, and is thought to be irreplaceable. 

Little Busters!' story revolves around the main protagonist Riki Naoe, a young male high school student. When Riki was a child, his parents died, leaving him hopeless and depressed. A group of three young boys and one girl his age saved him who referred to themselves as the Little Busters, a group dedicated to fighting evil and preserving justice. The leader of the group was Kyousuke Natsume who had a younger sister named Rin. The other two members were Masato Inohara and Kengo Miyazawa, who were rivals despite being friends. They took Riki out and played together with him during his time of need, making him the fifth Little Busters member. In time, Riki enjoyed playing with them, and his grief over his parents gradually faded away. When the story begins, Riki and his friends are seemingly in their second year of high school, except for Kyousuke who is in his third year. They still hang out together, and enjoy their school life.

The story opens on Sunday May 13, 2007, and the next day at school, Kyousuke decides that the Little Busters are going to play a baseball game, except they do not have enough members to have a complete team. Kyousuke gives Riki and Rin the task of going around school to find more members to join, preferably girls so as not to leave Rin the lone girl. Riki finds five girls his age willing to help him out. They are: Komari Kamikita, a childish girl who is very clumsy; Haruka Saigusa, a problem child who likes to start uproars for her own enjoyment; Kudryavka Noumi, a one-quarter Japanese girl in the home economics club who is very bad in English; Yuiko Kurugaya, a girl who is given respect from her peers, and has a self-sufficient personality; and Mio Nishizono, a calm girl with a weak body who is always seen holding a parasol when outside. Throughout the game, Riki hangs out with these girls and learns more about them.

This is a highly recommended visual novel. Apart from its story line, music and art, the characters are very memorable. Nevertheless, it is simply one of the best.
