Cross Ange. The most Sunrise as an anime can get.

Hey there. New writer here writing my very first post. Cross Ange : Rondos of Angels and Dragons is as the title says, full of Ange (well she's the main character), angels (the mechs in this story are referred to that) and dragons. Now that in itself sounds very tempting but most of the reviews and opinions from netizens and real world humans that I met myself gave pretty negative reviews on this anime so I'm writing this here to give her some justice that she deserves as an anime.

First of all, I really really really really recommend Cross Ange to those of you who have watched other Sunrise-made animes such as the Cosmic Era Gundam Seed and Valvrave The Liberator. This is because this anime have lots of references from those shows(Valvrave only had like a 5 second screen time but a cameo is a cameo). Because of these references you'd feel very much entertained while watching them and reminiscing your memories from when you first watched Seed.

For those who never watched Gundam Seed, I don't recommend you doing so just so you could enjoy watching Ange for those references. But then again, why not? If you didn't, you'd still be able to enjoy all those moments in this story that is mostly mixing up heavy dark stuff with light, innocent ridiculous humor that is mostly made possible with the main character's partner, Tasuku. I will not call him Tusk. Tasuku sounds better. Yeah. And then there are those fanservices. Lots and lots and lots of fanservice. The picture shown next... is one of the less revealing.

A theme that is addressed heavily in this anime that I took a liking to is fairness and equality(yeah yeah I know there are lots of other better animes out there that addresses those things) but in this anime you can see the main character's realization of the fact herself by experiencing all those humiliation and discrimination herself, after actually agreeing to the system just 5 minutes before she got that served to her face.

The quality however... isn't something to be bragged about. Its just barely enough. BARELY. The mechs and dragons don't actually give you that awe that they are supposed to give. I mean, giant robots fighting giant dragons. It should at least give you shivers like when you watch Pacific Rim, right? The fights themselves aren't that creative and if you look at the anime closely there are some scenes where they just looped the whole thing and just changed the color palette of the robots/dragons. That pissed me off. Especially the fact that the first opening was... A template of the Gundam Seed's opening (Go on youtube. You'll know what I mean). Sunrise is getting lazy apparently.

All in all I would give this anime the title "Best Sunrise Anime of 2014". The references, the dark themes, the humor, the emo, and last of all... the parody element that is just too obvious I could even call this anime a tribute to Gundam Seed. It has its funny hilarious moments and dark moments and also both of them together in one scene that makes you wonder sometimes,"Are they trying to be funny here or are they trying to be serious?". Anyways. Enjoy.
Note: The last picture down there is practically... saying it all I guess....

Light Novel - Juou Mujin No Fafnir (Unlimited Fafnir)

Juou Mujin No Fafnir (Unlimited Fafnir)

Author: Tsukasa

Illustrator: Korie Riko

—Neun, demand, confirm—

At this moment, I heard an emotionless voice in my mind. Crack, I saw a tiny sapling, breaking through the asphalt surface of the road to emerge.

—Circuits of omniscience, partial release, consider, aligned interests, proposal, make a deal—

What? Who the heck are you?

Fragmented words poured into my mind directly. The originally intermittent voice gradually gained fluency.

—I, am, Gaia's oldest, dragon species, Thue. Known as Kiskanu according to Acht, or Yggdrasil—

—Again, confirmation, demand consideration, make a deal with me—

A deal...? Speaking of which, I had said the same thing earlier.

What the heck are you offering me? And what price do I have to pay?

—Offer is, power. Demand is, extermination—

Extermination? Extermination of what...?

—All dragon species, apart from myself—

A few days have passed since the last episode of Unlimited Fafnir anime and it would not be a bad idea to go searching for its source material, the Light Novel itself. That’s what the first thing I’ve done after watching the first season of Oregairu previously. The LN version have a lot of additional information compared to the anime because the anime tend to cut out some information from the LN to fit the anime into the limited broadcasting of usually 12 or 24 episodes.

For your information, the Light Novel version currently have 8 volumes with the latest volume being released just recently on 2nd April 2015. Regarding the overall impression on the volumes that I’ve read (3 volumes), I can say there are tons of content being omitted by the anime. As Japanese is not my mother tongue, I had to rely on the kind soul on the internet to translate the volumes and currently, these people had translated up to the 3rd volume, the Basilisk extermination arc. Also, there are plenty of Yuu’s interaction with the other girls compare to the anime as well as the plot regarding Yuu’s and Mitsuki’s circumstances in the Light Novel is much more elaborated. So I would really suggest reading the LN starting from volume 1 as there are some contents being omitted with some being quite important to the plot. Anyway, I would be glad if you enjoy the story.

Trivia: Juou Mujin No Fafnir can be translated as “Fafnir the Unlimited Gun Emperor”. You would get the meaning if you read the novel *smirk*

Kantai Collection Kanmusu picture gallery - Kiso

Welcome back to the Kancolle Kanmusu picture gallery. This time we have one of the fleet ikemen, Kiso! She had the coolest second remodel design, and as a torpedo cruiser, one of the most useful ship in game. She bears an uncanny resemblance to Minamitsu Murasa from Touhou Project, to be honest.

Kiso was the fifth and last of the five Kuma-class light cruisers, which served with the Imperial Japanese Navy during World War II. She was named after the Kiso River in central HonshÅ«, Japan. She sunk by USN aircraft off Cavite, Philippines 14°35′N 120°50′E

'5500 ton light cruiser, Kuma-class 'Kiso'. My regards. Runways and catapults, nah, I don't need those. Battle is all about bringing it right to the enemy! Right?'

All pictures/images/artworks belong to their respective owner/creators.

Let me know if you guys want a specific kanmusu.
