Rkidz's Japan Travel Blog - Day 4: Having fun at Tokyo Disneyland

Day 4.

Tokyo Disneyland, the place where your inner child screams in joy.



It's been a while since I when to an actual theme park. Tokyo Disneyland is a place I decided to go on a whim because might as well, right? The theme park is part of the Tokyo Disney Resort located in Urayasu, Chiba, Japan, near Tokyo. Its main gate is directly adjacent to both Maihama Station and Tokyo Disneyland Station. Thus, you can easily get here by train. A one-day passport cost 7400 yen, and you can use it for the whole day. I already bought mine online, so getting inside was a breeze. From outside, there aren't many people and I expect the park to be not so crowded. But to my surprise, I am completely wrong. There were so many people inside. The scale of this place totally goes way beyond my expectation; IT'S HUGE. Heck, I spend more than 10 hours there yet only managed to enjoy less than half of the ride provided, mostly because of the super long lines. Yet every time spent waiting is totally worth it, since every single ride is hella fun.

The first thing ride I went to is a roller coaster ride called Big Thunder Mountain on Westernland. There is no reason in particular; I just want to get into a ride as fast as possible and saw that the fast pass machine was still available. The adrenaline rushing in when the roller coaster starts to go really fast was intoxicating. Later on, I took a look around Tom Sawyer Island and board the Mark Twain Riverboat, an elegant, 3-deck "floating palace," for a cruise around the replica of Rivers of America.

Afterward, I went to Critterland and managed to go get into the Splash Mountain ride after 1 and half hour queue  (a wrong judgment in my part). This boat ride takes you through the world of Disney's classic film, Song of the South. It is a really, really fun ride, but I waited far too long for it. I suggest people who want to come here next time to download a good Tokyo Disneyland apps on your smartphone that shows estimated waiting time and the map for the park itself so that you can plan better and spend your time properly. I also managed to get myself a soysauce flavoured popcorn, which have a rather strange, peculiar taste.

Later, I headed to Fantasyland and went into the Haunted Mansion. It is indeed a really amazing ride where you can literally see hologram of ghost while you ride a seating pod inside the mansion itself. Spooky eh. Next up is the Cinderella castle, the trademark of disneyland itself. Inside is the Cinderella's Fairy Tale Hall, where basically guests are welcome to wander through the castle to view paintings, dioramas, and other artworks that follow Cinderella's story. It's like a wonderful museum, where in the end you can sit and take pictures on a throne.

Then, I went to Tomorrowland, where guest can enjoy sci-fi themed ride. Star Tours: The Adventures Continue is the ride for Star Wars fan who want to enjoy 3D action inside a space bus thingy. You'll enjoy an unprecedented thrill as you find yourself right in the middle of the action with familiar characters from the film series. I also managed to visit Stitch Monitoring Station, which is a mistake in my part. Guest were able to communicate with Stitch in real time over the theater’s large screen BUT in Japanese language. The entire family will enjoy chatting with that mischievous Stitch in this attraction full of humor and surprises. I can't really enjoy it since I don't speak Japanese (only a little, so I can understand some part fortunately). Other ride include Space Mountain, Buzz Lightyear's Astro Blasters and Monters Inc. Ride and Go Seek which I didn't have the chance to ride because of the long line.

Later on in the evening, I went to Adventureland. The Pirates of the Caribbean ride was one of my favourite, where you basically ride a boat and experiences cannonball fired on the water, burning villages and pirate shouting inside this dynamic attraction. Another boat ride I managed to ride was the Jungle Cruise, looking at the night time wilderness. Can't really see much since its really dark, so I suggest you ride this in the day instead. I also managed to take a night time Western River Railroad ride for a round trip through Adventureland, Critter Country, and Westernland. After passing through a western frontier town, you'll slip even farther back in time to the age of dinosaurs, which is really awesome.

Finally, before the park finally closes, I managed to gather at the centre ground near the Cinderella's Castle to enjoy the last show of the evening. The castle were lit up, fireworks went up the sky and Disney's story was projected into the castle itself for all to see. It was a magnificent sight, fitting ffor a finale after a whole day of fun inside the theme park.

Disneyland was full of joyous atmosphere. Parades were regularly held, and there were lot of shows to enjoy, scattered across the park. The park is beautiful and majestic in the day but also looks wonderful as the night come and lights began to illuminate the whole park. Everywhere you go, there is definitely something you could do and have a blast.

It was a very memorable, fun day in Tokyo Disneyland. I think I'll be going to other Disneyland around the world if I had the chance to do so.
